Finally I have a few minutes to blog about August. I have been so busy lately.
August 7th was Landen's 3rd birthday. We had my brothers and sisters come over and Byron's family. We of course had a BBQ, cake and ice cream. This year I wanted to make a fire truck cake, cause Landen is into fire trucks right now but I book I have on how to make certain cakes, the fire truck looked ugly.

So I made him a race car track. I know it looks like a 8 but its a race car track. I'm still learninig how to decorate cakes. I'm no pro, but I would like to learn someday. He had lots of fun as always. He loves it when his family is around. I had made the mistake of mentioning to him a few days earlier that I was making him a birthday cake. So he kept on asking me to make it for him. Then, after the party was over, I had Byron's family take the left over cake home since we wouldn't eat it all. I did however, save Landen a couple of slices. Well I guess after Byron's family left, Landen mentioned to Byron, "Grandad take my cake home." in a sad voice. Poor guy was so sad. So the next day when I asked him if he wanted to eat some cake, he said, "gradad take it home." Then when I told him that I saved him some his eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning. He was so excited I had saved him some of his cake. Silly boy.
Sydney and Landen enjoying the cake and ice cream.
Aunt Sherry bought Landen a race car.
Byron and I bought Landen this bike. Now it just needs to cool down so we can go outside and teach him how to ride it.
Sydney wishing she could ride it too.
At the end of August, we went to my parents house for Crew's baptism. I can't believe his is eight years old already. He and Byrce were the last great grandsons my Grandpa Longhurst was able to hold before he left this earth. (oops, correction. Aunt Lydia just told me that Jonah was the last. I guess Jonah was two weeks old.) Anyways, Crew got lucky and was able to be baptized on his actual birthday. Since all of my parents grandkids were in town they wanted to get some picture of all of them together. As you can tell I am in almost all of them, because my kids are the only rotten ones not willing to get their picture taken with everyone else.
If you look really close, Landen is behind me in an orange shirt.
Oldest to youngest. Lilly holding Roman and Crew holding Hinkley. And then of course me holding rotten Sydney.
Landen and Sydney playing in my dads old car.
Landen driving Grandpa's tractor. Everytime I read a book to him that has a tractor in it, he says "Grandpa's tractor."
Well that's it for August. I guess we really didn't do much. Probably because I was so busy getting things ready for my preschool.

It looks like Landen had a fun Birthday! He's growing up to fast! Heather's son, Jonah was only two weeks old when Poppo died. I have a picture of him holding Jonah that I cherish. Jonah was born May 15th and daddy died on the 30th. It was one of the last pictures I have of my dad.
You did a GREAT job on his cake! Happy Birthday to your Landen!
sounds like a fun month!
Happy Birthday Landen!
