JOSIAH TARVER SINGLETON

JOSIAH TARVER SINGLETON
Born: Friday, July 9, 2010
Time: 10:50 a.m.
Stats: 8 lbs. 20.5 inches

Where did we get his name from?
Josiah comes from my Dad's side of the family; my great grandfathers middle name. Tarver comes from Byron's side of the family; his grandfathers middle name and great grandfathers middle name.

The kids came to visit me prior to the baby being born. Landen was being shy. Luckily, my friend Mindy and her husband were there because they ended up taking them to my sister in laws house since my labor progressed so much faster than we expected.

Labor Story:
So obviously I didn't go early, like I had been with my other two kids. He was born on his due date. At my Dr. appt on Wednesday I asked Dr. Tindall if he would strip my membranes cause I would rather go on my own that way than be induced. But I also signed up to be induced on Friday. He said he would just a little bit, but didn't want to too vigoursly cause he had to go to Holbrook on Thursday and he didn't want me to deliver while he was gone. So time for induction was set for Friday at 7:30 a.m.

Thursday evening and all through the night I was having pains. I just thought they were really bad gas pains, but by the time I woke up Friday morning to get ready to go to the hospital; I realized they were contractions. And they were getting closer and harder. When we got to the hospital, they asked us if were there for induction or labor. I said well both actually. I am supposed to be here at 7:30 but I'm already in labor. Then they said that my induction appt had actually gotten bumped to Saturday. So luckily, I was already in labor. They checked me into triage and got me all hooked up to the monitors to make sure I was in labor. Sure enough I was. Contractions were close. I was dialated to a 4 and my cervix was really thin.

They set me up in the delivery room. I was in pain of course, so the nurse gave staydol(don't know how to spell that one.) I will never take that again. It made me so tired and loopy, I hated it. I could hardly keep my eyes open or concentrate on anything that anyone was saying. They gave me that to help me out till I got my epidural. They had to do some blood work before giving me an epidural. I then began throwing up. By 8:30 I had received my epidural. Between 9:00 and 9:30 my water broke. It was green. What is it with my boys pooing before they are born. So far with both of my boys I have thrown up and they have both pooped before being born. Boys!

Sadly, my epidural didn't take effect to my outer left side. So that was painful. It felt like my hip was going to break in two. The nurse went to call my Dr. He was still in Whiteriver. By 10:30 I was ready to push. My Dr. was still 20 minutes away and wanted me to wait. But by my next contraction I was ready. So they had to call Dr. Connolly. He got there just in time. I pushed about five contraction rounds and out he came. Apparently, his face was purple. He was chocking on his maconium and the cord was wrapped around his neck once. The Dr. suctioned all the junk out of his mouth and nose and then the rest of him came out. I got to hold him for about 2 seconds. Then they took him and put a long tube down his throat to suction the rest of the junk out of his lungs.

Yay!!! He is finally here. I can't believe I went 40 weeks with this one. I'm just so glad the labor and delivery was fast also. At least that is fast for me. I was jealous with my sister Sherry for having a fast delivery with her baby and then I had a fast delivery also. So very glad.

We are doing great now. He is such a good baby. He only wakes up once or twice during the night. So grateful for that. He has been spitting up alot due to swallowing the maconium; trying to spit up all of that junk. Other than that, things are going well. The kids have adapted really well and are always giving him kisses and talking to him. We love him tons!

Some June Happenings

I know all of you are dying to see pics of my new baby, but you will have to wait till I get caught up on my post of things that have occurred previously to my baby's birth. Sorry.

Here are some things that we have done while living here at my mom's house; trying to keep the kids entertained.

FISHING

We went to Fools Hollow lake to go bike riding. We had all of Brandon's (my brother's kids) with us. We thought the trail was paved, but it wasn't. So Landen and Cohwen had a hard time riding their bikes with training wheels on the uneven dirt. We ended up pushing them on their bikes or pushing their bikes while they walked. That was fun; NOT! After that we let the kids go fishing. They tried anyways. Landen even walked out into the lake up to his knees to try to catch a fish. It was funny to watch him.

SWIMMING

We have gone swimmning several times while being here. The kids were hesitant at first to get into the water, but once they did they had lots of fun. Course they don't stay in the water for very long. However, the one time I met up with my friend Jennifer whom I haven't seen in years, of course my kids wounldn't even get in the water. They only got their feet wet. Go figure.

PARK

There is a pretty nice play ground at Fool's Hollow Lake. We had a BBQ there and then let the kids play on the play ground. They had lots of fun. Landen especially loved the really high slide.

I'm so ready!!!!

I am sitting here at my moms feeling so ready for this baby to come out. BUT HE CAN'T!!! He has to wait till his daddy comes home. Byron will be here early Sat. morning. So if I am lucky, I will go into labor on Sat. At first I didn't want the baby to come on Sat or Sun cause the poor child will have to celebrate his birthday with the 4th of July. But at this point I don't care anymore. I just need to get this baby out. I'm tired of having my belly feel like it is tearing apart. I have heartburn all day and night. I can't sleep. I have absolutely NO patience anymore. Etc, etc. I know, stop the whining. I'm jealous,my sister Sherry had her baby last night. Her Dr. is going to be out of town next week, so he wanted to induce her this week. If my husband wasn't out of town, I would be doing things to put myself into labor. But I'll have to wait a few more days I guess. Just keep praying that I won't go into labor till Sat. morning. Byron keeps saying that I will go into labor tomorrow morning. Well absolutely NOT! He isnt here and either is my mom. I can't have a baby all by myself.

Time to update!

Well we are officially moved out of our house since Memorial Day weekend. We were hoping it would take one day to move all of our stuff out, but it took us three. Our storage shed is jamm packed and so is my poor mother in laws family room. The kids and I stayed at my inlaws the first week of June. That Saturday, my mother inlaw threw me and my sister in law a baby shower for family and friends on that side of town. I got LOTS of diapers. Yipee. I didn't really need any clothes so I requested diapers and wipes. I also got some really cute blankets that my sister in law made and Byron's grandma.

I am now staying at my parents house. The kids love it outside and are outside almost all day, everyday. It has been rough not having a home of our own. Landen will make comments sometimes that he wants to go back home. I try to explain to him that we are living with grandma and that this is our home for a while, but he just says this is grandma's house. Then he will ask if daddy is coming home tonight and I say no, then he says where does daddy fall asleep. I tell him at his house in Flagstaff. It's so sad sometimes. The poor kids just don't really understand what is going on. We miss Byron terribly. It has been rough only seeing him on the weekends. And now we will only get to see him this Saturday for probably only half of the day cause he has to head to Phoenix. He fly's out to Ohio Sunday morning. So he doesnt even get to celebrate Father's Day with his children or wife. Sadness. He will be there until July 2nd. We are sure going to miss him lots and lots.

Well I am 37 weeks now. I can't belive I am so close. With my other two kids, I had them a week early. But I am praying that I don't go early with this one. The earliest he can come is three days. Byron gets home late Friday so he won't be able to come up till the 3rd. I don't really want to have him on the 3rd, 4th, or 5th. Otherwise he will have to celebrate his birthday with the 4th of July. I know I don't really have a choice and he will come when he comes, but I can only hope. Right? My Dr. is pretty cool up here. The only problem is that he is very very busy. I guess things are run differently in the valley. With all of my kids I saw the nurse more than I saw the Dr. for all of my OB visits. With this baby I had seen my Queen Creek Dr. only once. I come up here and the Dr. see's all of his patients. The nurses just check your weight, and blood pressure. They do help out with a few other things too. So my first Dr. visit up here was HORRIFIC. My appt was at 10 am. I didn't get seen until 12:30!! Holy crap! My visits in QC were at most 30 minutes. Apparently, he had a delivery that morning so it put him behind schedule ALOT! Then the visit lasted over an hour. Since I was new, we talked in his office for awhile. Then since I was 36 weeks I had to get checked for Strep B. I was dialated to a 2 and he said my cervix was really thin. Then since I had placenta previa he wanted me to get an ultrasound to make sure my placenta was still up. And then since the ultrasound tech has never seen me before she wanted to get a look at the baby and measure everything. Oh my goodness! I was starving by this point. So I finally got out of there probably around 1:45. I had another appt today at 5:50. Who stays open that late? Luckily, I didn't have to wait too long this time. He was at the hospital with a delivery when I got there, but he was apparently on his way back. Good thing. I really didnt' want two bad experiences. He didn't check me today. Which is ok. I have heard that sometimes your cervix can dialate more after being checked. So since I don't want an early baby, I was ok with that. So we will have to see what next week brings. My appt is at 1:30, right after lunch break. So hopefully he won't be behind. We will see.
