JOSIAH TARVER SINGLETON
Born: Friday, July 9, 2010
Time: 10:50 a.m.
Stats: 8 lbs. 20.5 inches
Where did we get his name from?
Josiah comes from my Dad's side of the family; my great grandfathers middle name. Tarver comes from Byron's side of the family; his grandfathers middle name and great grandfathers middle name.
The kids came to visit me prior to the baby being born. Landen was being shy. Luckily, my friend Mindy and her husband were there because they ended up taking them to my sister in laws house since my labor progressed so much faster than we expected.

Labor Story:
So obviously I didn't go early, like I had been with my other two kids. He was born on his due date. At my Dr. appt on Wednesday I asked Dr. Tindall if he would strip my membranes cause I would rather go on my own that way than be induced. But I also signed up to be induced on Friday. He said he would just a little bit, but didn't want to too vigoursly cause he had to go to Holbrook on Thursday and he didn't want me to deliver while he was gone. So time for induction was set for Friday at 7:30 a.m.

Thursday evening and all through the night I was having pains. I just thought they were really bad gas pains, but by the time I woke up Friday morning to get ready to go to the hospital; I realized they were contractions. And they were getting closer and harder. When we got to the hospital, they asked us if were there for induction or labor. I said well both actually. I am supposed to be here at 7:30 but I'm already in labor. Then they said that my induction appt had actually gotten bumped to Saturday. So luckily, I was already in labor. They checked me into triage and got me all hooked up to the monitors to make sure I was in labor. Sure enough I was. Contractions were close. I was dialated to a 4 and my cervix was really thin.

They set me up in the delivery room. I was in pain of course, so the nurse gave staydol(don't know how to spell that one.) I will never take that again. It made me so tired and loopy, I hated it. I could hardly keep my eyes open or concentrate on anything that anyone was saying. They gave me that to help me out till I got my epidural. They had to do some blood work before giving me an epidural. I then began throwing up. By 8:30 I had received my epidural. Between 9:00 and 9:30 my water broke. It was green. What is it with my boys pooing before they are born. So far with both of my boys I have thrown up and they have both pooped before being born. Boys!

Sadly, my epidural didn't take effect to my outer left side. So that was painful. It felt like my hip was going to break in two. The nurse went to call my Dr. He was still in Whiteriver. By 10:30 I was ready to push. My Dr. was still 20 minutes away and wanted me to wait. But by my next contraction I was ready. So they had to call Dr. Connolly. He got there just in time. I pushed about five contraction rounds and out he came. Apparently, his face was purple. He was chocking on his maconium and the cord was wrapped around his neck once. The Dr. suctioned all the junk out of his mouth and nose and then the rest of him came out. I got to hold him for about 2 seconds. Then they took him and put a long tube down his throat to suction the rest of the junk out of his lungs.

Yay!!! He is finally here. I can't believe I went 40 weeks with this one. I'm just so glad the labor and delivery was fast also. At least that is fast for me. I was jealous with my sister Sherry for having a fast delivery with her baby and then I had a fast delivery also. So very glad.

We are doing great now. He is such a good baby. He only wakes up once or twice during the night. So grateful for that. He has been spitting up alot due to swallowing the maconium; trying to spit up all of that junk. Other than that, things are going well. The kids have adapted really well and are always giving him kisses and talking to him. We love him tons!

He's so cute! You look great!
Shame on Dr. T. for trying to make you wait! Seriously...when you gotta push...you GOTTA push!
...i loved staydol...didn't make me loopy...it just made it so that I didn't care about the pain. I'd take that every day if I could! (j/k) Glad you had a fast labor! Let me know when you're ready for me to come see the little guy.:) So glad I live close enough to do that! (I'll leave my 4 at home!)
