A very busy weekend!

This past weekend was very busy for Byron and I. We drove to Show Low Friday night. Got up early to go to breakfast in Clay Springs. While in Clay Springs, we went to my cousin's house to see some of the new baby animals that were just born. After that we rushed back to Show Low so I could get ready for my 10 year High School Reunion luncheon. We ate sub sandwiches and chips. Sat and talked to old friends and got sunburned. Sadly, Sydney got the worst of us all. The top of her head and little nose. And she now has a farmer's tan. After the luncheon, we rushed out to Vernon where Byron's family was having a family reunion. We stayed out there for a few hours visting with family. Then we came back to Show Low to get ready for the dinner for my class reunion. While at the dinner I worried about Sydney the whole time. She isn't very good with other people besides me. When I called my mom around 10:00 she had been asleep so far but by the time we got home, she had woken up and was screaming. So then of course she wouldn't go back to sleep till almost midnight. Then early Sunday morning we drove back to Mesa so Byron could get back to nursery on time. Whew, was a fast weekend. I will post pictures of the class reunion and family reunion once I get the USB cord from my brother Jason. I had to use his camera because I didn't plan very well and so the battery on my camera went dead after our trip to Clay Springs.

10 must have's

I was watching Oprah today and it was on being a slumpadinka. I am totally a slumpadinka. A slumpadinka is someone who wears her comfy clothes all the time, such as her pajamas or sweats. You get the idea. Anyways, here are the ten things that every woman must have.
1. Trench coat
2. Black or white turtleneck
3. Black trousers
4. Tunic
5. White jeans
6. Dark jeans
7. Black dress (doesn't have to be the "tiny black dress")
8. White denim jacket or a dark dark blue
9. Cashmere sweater
10. Black skirt

Also, they said every woman has to have a crispy white button down shirt (it has to always be crisp looking)

Looks like I need to go shopping. I only own the dark jeans. But, I don't know how to dress cute, so I wouldn't even know how to wear most of those 10 things.

Santo Tomas

Well I know I haven't posted in a while. There have been a lot of things I have wanted to post about, but never did it. So I will just post about our wonderful week long vacation to Santo Tomas, Mexico. We usually go to Puerto Penasco, Mexico but this year we went about 80 miles further south. It was very nice. The beach was beautiful and when the tide was out you could walk out forever. We were the only ones there except for my sister in law sisters family and one other family was there but left shortly after we arrived. It was such a long drive out there that I thought for surely we were lost and had taken a wrong turn somewhere, but we did finally arrive. We had a great time, except for the last three days when Landen got sick, throwing up and really bad diarrhea. (Which he still has the diarrhea. I'm not very good at enforcing the BRAT diet) That was not fun. And then Sydney would only sleep if she slept with Byron and I. (She finally cut a tooth, so that will explain the fussiness and screaming and knawing on her hands, and waking up all hours of the night.) So many sleepless nights, but it was all worth it to be at the beach. I couldn't believe how many dolphins we saw. It was so awesome. One of the times we saw dolphins, Anthon drove Halee, Sherry, and I on the jet ski to see them. They were so close to us and there were so many of them. It was the coolest experience. They would follow us and swim all around us. I wish I had a water proof camera with me.

This is a long one!!!

Whew, I finally have a free moment to update my much needed blog. Landen has been taking really long naps lately(four hours)so that then puts his bed time back a while and Sydney has been a little stinker lately too; not wanting to go to bed. She just wants me to hold her while she sleeps.

To catch you all up on what has been going on with us, let's see. Towards the end of April, I went to Show Low with my mom and spent a few days there with her and my dad. We just hung out and didn't do much. My main reason for going to Show Low was to go to my friend, Rachel Hancock's wedding. Byron wasn't going to come because he had to work on Saturday, but he surprised me at one in the morning by crawling into bed with me. Sadly to say, I didn't get to see the wedding. Oh, and I have to mention it wasn't a temple wedding. She isn't a member of the church. We took Sydney with us. I would have left her with my mom, but she had Landen who was cranky and had a cold, and she also had Cohwen, who was cranky and sick. And I forgot to bring formula. So we took her, which I really didn't think would be a problem. We were standing in line to sign the guest book, Byron was holding her and she started to tear up so he handed her to me. She was looking around and all of a sudden just starting crying really loud, like a scared scream cry. She has never done this before and we have gone to plenty of public places before. No matter what I did, she wouldn't stop crying. Byron ended up taking her outside, but I could still hear her. Luckily, I saw Rachel and said congrats and gave her a hug before the wedding started. I sat in the very last row and waited until she walked by with her dad and then I took off in search of Byron. We went back to my moms and I tried to feed her, but nothing helped. She continued to cry for and hour and a half to two hours. It was so sad for Byron and I. I finally told Byron to give her a blessing. Finally, after a little bit she stopped crying when I tried to feed her again and I had Landen sit by her and talk to her. Of course Landen's sweet spirit calmed her down. You are probably wondering WHY I am telling you this. Well I just thought I would tell you my thoughts and reason for why she may have been crying that way. I think while we were standing in that church, she could tell the Spirit wasn't present. She is still so young that no doubt the veil is still very thin for her. I think her sweet little spirit is so sweet and pure that she knew the feeling was very different.
To go on to other things, I had my 28th birthday on the 9th. I can't believe I am this old already. How the time sure does fly. It was a fun birthday. My sister, Shauna, and I spent the whole day going shopping. We had lunch at Chipolte and dinner at PF Changs. I didnt really buy anything, but Sydney a swim suit. I told Byron all I wanted for my birthday was my china cabinet. When we lived in our apartment, we bought a china cabinet from a guy he used to work with. We only payed $40.00 for it, but it looks like it cost a couple thousand. The guy was filthy rich and just wanted it out of his house. So we bought it and it has been at Byron's parents house ever since then. So I finally have it in my house. YEAH.

Here are just some random pictures. We all know blog post are more interesting when there are pictures.
Landen LOVES to help me clean. In fact, he wiped the toilet down for me today! (the toilet seat lid was on for those of you who were thinking grose, and of course I washed his hands) But he loves to sweep, mop; anything to help (more like hinder) In fact, Byron said he needs to have Landen hang out with him more. Byron is Landen's nursery leader and he said all Landen ever does is play with the toy vaccuum.
Sydney got to finally eat some real food. She is eating peas. She likes baby food a lot more than her rice cereal.
Shauna and Landen. Shauna was sitting on the counter, so of course Landen had to sit right up there with her.
If you say "Can I have a kiss," Landen will put his cheek up to your face and instead of him giving us a kiss, we get to give him a kiss. I think this is the closest he has come to giving a kiss. He used to put out his hand. At least he has moved on to the face area.
Sydney has to fall asleep with her "snuggely" Thank you Katie for making such a soft and cute "lovey" as she calls them. Sydney loves it.
I'm going to be ready to crawl here soon. I can scoot in circles and use my head and legs to propel me forward. Aren't I so dang cute!!!
My little chef!
I let Landen put the chicken enchaladas mixture in the pan. He was so excited to be helping me.

Randomness

This is Sydney eating her first rice cereal. She really liked it the first few times, but now she just spits it out.

This is my great grandparents homestead. My Dad and his brothers are rebuiding it. It's the same size as the original and the chimney is the original. My great grandparents had 13 children, but some of the older ones had already moved out when this home was build. But still, can you imagine living in a small space like this with 10 or so people. How they ever do it way back then is beyond me. How spoiled of a generation we have become. Now people live in spaces 10 times this size with maybe one or two children. Their whole house is seriously the size of my living room.

Landen and Cohwen playing!

This is Sydney's new funny face she likes to make. It's so cute when she does it. It makes her cheeks look fatter.

Sydney four months old

Yesterday, Sydney had her four month check up. She has grown so much. She now weighs 14 lbs, 55th percentile and is 25 1/2 inches long, 90th percentile. She has grown two inches in the last two months. She really is "growing like a weed." She is so much fun. While I am feeding her, she likes to put her fist in my mouth or try to grab my nose. Sometimes it takes a long time to feed her because she just wants to talk to me or smile at me.

Sydney can hold her own bottle, sorta. Landen never learned to hold a bottle until he was probably 9 months because he rarely had a bottle. But poor Sydney has a bottle quite frequently, at least one every three days or so. With the second child, you learn to leave them more often. With Landen, I never left him with someone. That is probably why he is such a HUGE mama's boy.

I can't believe she is four months old already. But she is at the fun stage. The first two months are kinda boring, but I do love to just hold them. Then they start to get their personalities and they sure do make you laugh. She is just so much fun and I love her to peices.

She has had an ear infection. That explains why she has been waking up during the night. She has been such a great sleeper since I brought her home from the hospital. She used to sleep from 9 p.m. till 5:30 a.m. usually 5 out 7 of the nights. Recently, she has been waking up two to three times at night. I was telling this to a lady I visit teach and she told me that Sydney probably had an ear infection because when her babies used to sleep through the night and then started to have frequent wakings, that more than likely they had an ear infection. So sure enough, yesterday confirmed that. So sadly we have to go back to the Dr. next week to get her shots, since she didn't get them yesterday. That is if her ear infection has cleared up by then.

Latest happenings at the Singleton's

Ok, So I know I need to post more often so that my post aren't so long. I have just been busy and then I went to my mom's for a few days and forgot my USB cord so now my post is going to be long again.

Shauna needed someone to color and cut their hair for a competition at her school. So I decided I would do it. I haven't had my hair highlighted since right after I got married, and that has been almost four years. Plus I was getting sick of my long straight blah hair. All I ever did was pull it back into a ponytail.

This is what my hair looked like before anything was done to it.

This is after it was highlighted and before the cut. You can't tell very well in the picture, but I got blonde and dark red, almost violet highlights.

This is during my highlighting phase.

And finally, the end product. Shauna layered my hair and gave my some swoop bangs. I really like it. It gave my hair some body and a lift.

Me and Shauna

That same weekend, my mom and two sisters went to the spa. We got a massage, facial, and chocolate wrap. It was fun and relaxing. Then we went to Olive Garden for lunch. Yum!

One of my friends, Michelle, was in town so we got together for a few hours.

This is Sydney and Sienna. They are 27 days apart.

And Landen and Tyrus, who doesn't like to wear clothes and is a ball of energy.

Then I went to stay with my mom for a few days. My friend Cammy got sealed to her husband on Saturday so I went a few days early to hang out with my mom and Dad. Brandon's kids were over, which Landen loved. He played with them alot. He loves Cohwen. They kept each other entertained the whole time.

Landen, Cohwen, Bryce, and Ashton.

Landen loves to push things, rather than ride on them. But Cohwen sure did love being pushed.
