Here is Colters birth story.
Welcoming Colter Ross Singleton on June 25, 2012 7 lbs. 14 oz 21 inches long, born at 4:03 pm!
We went in to the hospital on June 25th 2012. We arrived at 7 am. I am getting induced. Will never do that again if I had a choice. I was at the hospital way too long waiting for it to all begin. The nurses didnt even get a line into me until 8. They first did an iv of fluids to get me hydrated. Then about a half hour later they started the pitoson. Every half hour they increased the amount of pitoson I was receiving. My mom showed up at 1030. Around 12 I started feeling contractions. The nurse checked me and I was only at a 3. By 1230 the contractions were getting stronger and I should have thought to get an epidural then, but i was feeling good so I thought I would wait a little longer. BIG MISTAKE!!! By then I had dilated to a 4 and was totally effaced and thinned out. Dr. Izenburg came in on his lunch break to break my water. Within 5 minutes I was in excruciating pain. I wanted an epidural right now.! y contractions were about a minute apart by then. While they nurse was out trying to locate the anesthesiologist, I was having really hard contractions, so bad that I started to hyperventilate and then I couldn't breath. By then I was crying cause the pain was so bad. My mom and Byron kept trying to get me to breath in and out, but I would freak out with the pain and then hyperventilate and when I inhaled I couldn't get enough air in, which would just further freak me out. Lets just say that I cant' handle any kind of pain. I am a true baby when it comes to pain. When I was in labor with Landen, the nurse told me that red heads have the worst pain tolerance. So there you go. I am a true no pain tolerance red head. Finally around 1 pm the anesthesiologist came, and he was trying to hurry for my sake, but my contractions were so close, that he was having a hard time putting the needle in since I had to be still. I was sitting bent over hugging a pillow waiting between contractions and he was finally able to put the line in. Within 5 to 10 minutes I was starting to feel some ease. At 1:30, the nurse checked me and I was dilated to a 8 already. By 2, I was a 9. Then the nurse disappeared for a while, I believe she was delivering another baby. Anyways, I could feel the contractions, but by then I wasn't in any more pain so I didn't feel any hurry until I started to notice A LOT of pressure down below. A little after 3, I told the nurse that I was feeling a lot of pressure so she checked me and I was dilated to a 10 and that I was all ready to go. She went to call the Dr. That took forever. Why he took so long to come, well probably because he was really hoping that I wouldn't deliver until after 5 so he would be done at the clinic. But he finally came around 330. He checked me to make sure, and said sure enough it was time. So he had me push a few times to get the baby's head down. So he went out into the hall to do who knows what. Kaylyn showed up so Byron and my mom stepped out in to the hall also. After like 2 pushes, the nurse was getting frantic. She yelled for Dr. Izenburg, which he didn't come. Come to find out, my mom said he was out in the hall drinking a coke. So the nurse then had to go out into the hall and yell get Dr. Izenburg in here now. Apparently, the baby's head was crowning and if I pushed any more, he would come out for no one to catch. So Dr. izenburg was telling me not to push, while he hurried and got on his hospital clothes. The pressure was so strong that I was like I can't hold it in any more, and I pushed and out his head came and then his body. The Dr. was barely ready and basically had to catch him. Then Colter pooped and peed all over him. HA HA. That's what you get for making me wait. And I mean all over him. So gross. They wrapped him in a towel and put him on my chest. Gross, but I was glad to see my handsome little guy. He was born at 4:03 pm. He also had maconium in his throat and stomach. Apparently he pooped in me also and swallowed it. So he wasn't crying at first, but they got it all sucked out and he started to cry. He weighs 7 lbs 14 ounces and is 21 inches long. I of course had to get stitches. It was thankfully only a 2 degree tear. He even tried using some oils on me so I wouldn't tear, but that never works for me. However, the stitches feel so tight. I'm so glad to be no longer pregnant. YEAH. Having a baby is so much work. For some reason, I think we got forgotten. The nurse didn't take us down to post pardom until 11 pm, after me having asked when we were going to go down there. I was exhausted and wanted to get some sleep. Byron, feel asleep immediately of course. Colter slept in bed with me. He is really good at breast feeding. He latched on right away and he wants to eat all the time and for a long time. I was finally able to fall asleep a little after 12. I got probably only 4 hours of sleep. The next day, after watching the 3 movies you have to watch, even though this is my 4th time seeing them, we were finally able to go home around 6 pm. My parents came to see me, and Landen and Sydney also came. JT feel asleep so he stayed home with Wendy. She and Jared stayed after coming up for a Singleton reunion in Vernon. Also, before going home, we had to wait around for the Urologist to come. Colter was born with hypospadias. So the Dr. just came to tell us when we should expect to see a Pediatric Urologist and when he should get the surgery. Fun times up ahead :(

Yowza! Yeah pitocin is no fun! Glad they got that epidurial in ya! Crazy what we go through for these sweet stinkers ;) so hypospadias must run in the family? Didn't Sterling have that?
